Domfil is a renowned publisher in Spain of stamp catalogues and stamp albums. Domfil publishes a range of country catalogues and an even wider range of thematic stamp catalogues.

Scouting and other youth movements

One of the newest catalogues this firm released by the beginning of this new millennium is the thematic catalogue 'Scouting and other youth movements'. In this catalogue not only stamps are pictured but also leaflets and blocks are portrayed and included in the listings. All the stamps etc. are ordered per land and they are all in full colour on a scale of 50% of the original stamps. Nevertheless the quality of the pictures is very good. Thanks to the spacious lay out, lettering type, paper and colors used it is a pleasure to use this manual.

Catalogue

The stamps are catalogued by country; the countries are arranged in alphabetical sequence of the Spanish country names, but on page 557 you can find an alphabetical index on the country names in the English language.
The whole catalogue is bilingual Spanish / English. From all the stamps etc. the following data are mentioned:
- emission year and title of the issue;
- the subject matter of the series (or single stamp);
- catalogue numbers, not only those of the own Domfil system (year and sequence number), but also the numbers of the catalogues of Yvert, Michel, Scott and Unificato.
- the market value of the series (or single stamp) in Spanish pesetas, Euros and American dollars per issue.

Essay on scouting

In a prologue to introduce the catalogue Mr Carlos Gomez Falon, Director of the Spanish Scouts, has written a very interested essay about scouting in which he is giving a lot of background information. If you do not collect scouting stamps up till now, soon you will take this hobby up.

Easy-reference manual

Thanks to the lay out and the paper used this book has become an easy-reference manual. In my opinion it is a must for those people who enjoy collecting scouting stamps and those who will become enthusiastic beginners.

Minor error

By coincidence I found a minor error on pages 67-69 where the picture of an unsurcharged stamp (and block) of Bhutan is mentioned as stamp (and block) with a surcharge. Further I made a check on some countries and on this basis I can say that this catalogue is complete.
In the first pages of the catalogue there is a lot of information about other catalogues of Domfil and philatelic materials of stamp sellers but the catalogue itself is not disfigured with advertisements and therefore it is a pleasure using this book for the purpose it is made for.
I have only one wish for the next edition: it must be possible in giving market values for all the individual stamps, let it be in one currency.
