Four centennial towns

Differdange
The town of Differdange is commencing its festivities on the same day as the anniversary date: 4th of August 2007. Numerous spectacles and events will be organized, notably a high-profile extravaganza in the summer of 2008 for which a concert arena will be specially built on the site of Jos Haupert stadium in Niederkorn.Dudelange
To celebrate 100 years of the town, the national audiovisual center (CNA) is going to produce a film tracing the history of Dudelange. Unique to this film, the inhabitants of the town have been called upon to discuss aspects of the town, which please or displease them. During a large part of the past century, the town was one of the main centers of the iron & steel industry in Luxembourg.Ettelbruck
The third city to reach 100 years of age, the town of Ettelbruck derives its name from Attila, King of the Huns, also known by the name of Etzel. During his time, the Huns had built a bridge above the Alzette River at the location of the present day community of Schieren. The name Ettelbruck thus signifies the bridge of Attila.Rumelange
This fourth Luxembourg town, celebrating its centennial, was inhabited as long as 40.000 years ago. In fact, according to Levoisian rock fragments discovered on site, Neanderthal man lived there during this era. In 2007 Rumelange celebrated this centennial, starting with a big, followed by sports and cultural events in the city's agenda all over the year.More information Postage Stamps
