Domfil stamp catalogue Belgium 2004
Domfil publisher of stamp catalogues and stamp albums

Belgium
One of the country stamp catalogues of Domfil is the stamp catalogue 2004 of Belgium (Belgié/Belgique), the second edition for this country. In 216 pages the catalogue shows all the stamps of Belgium from the beginning in 1849 up to the emissions of December of the year 2003. The text is stated both in Spanish and in French. On page 1 there is basic information about the country and the currency, important information for the real stamp collector. For every emission in a year you will find the following data:
the title of the emission - the emission date - the perforation with some details - the print run (i.e. the total amount of printed stamps per set).
For every stamp you will find a reproduction
For every stamp you will find a reproduction at a 50% scale of the actual size. That is a little bit small but the pictures are in full colour and the reproductions are very good. Under the reproductions is stated if the stamps are issued in a block, a sheet or in a booklet. Most sheets are wholly reproduced, but there are exeptions. From sheets with the same stamps, such as the "Europalia stamps" of 2003 only one stamp has been reproduced. For every stamp you will find a Domfil number, the nominal value and a description or mentioning of the colour of the stamp. Just thereafter you can see two columns with the market values for mint stamps (never hinged) and for used stamps. Behind these prices you will find a small box. The collector can mark this box if he has the stamp in his collection. A very attentive plus for this catalogue.
The data for the individual stamps per set are completed by the set price. Not mentioned are First Day Covers, nor prices of booklets, sheets or blocks.
Domfil numbering
The Domfil numbering of the stamps consists of three letters for the country, the three last figures of the emission year and an order number. For example: the number BEL-996.4 corresponds to the 4th stamp, issued in 1996. All the stamps are mentioned in a strict chronological order. All sorts of stamps are included in this strict chronological order, so you will find the Railway stamps (Chemin de Fer), Postage Due stamps (Timbres Taxe) and other special stamps in chronological order between the normal stamps.
For long lasting series you will also find the stamps only in chronological order. It should be convenient for the collector if such series in the next edition of the catalogue can be mentioned in a special table at the end of the catalogue. Also convenient for the collector would be a cross reference between sets of the same nature as for example the sets "The 20th Century in 80 stamps" (Le siècle XX en 80 timbres) of the years 2000, 2001, 2002, etc.
The 216 pages of the catalogue part have at the edges a yellow colour. All the catalogue pages have page numbers and - very attentively - in the upper corner the emission year of the first stamps on that page.
Just before the yellow marked pages you will find a list of abbreviations used in the catalogue and on one of the last pages you will find some symbols. Also at the end of the catalogue you can find a summary per year of the stamps of this country and the mint values per year, starting with the year 1959.
Stamps of Belgium
For the collector of stamps of Belgium this catalogue is a very handsome one. The catalogue is an easy-reference manual; it gives enough information for the not-specialized collector. The reproductions are excellent, even the old stamps. An important thing is that the catalogue stays flat when it is in use.You can get a copy of the catalogue from your local stamp dealer.
