The 44p stamp commemorates the medieval traditions of pilgrimages. St. Andrews Cathedral was founded in 1144 and was one of the largest and finest church buildings in Britain. It was one of the most important centres of northwest Europe.Birth of Christ
The birth of Christ (first Christmas) is presented on the 64p stamp.For every stamp a different designer was assigned. The original artwork for the Christians' Tale stamps is on show at the British Library along with the remainder of the 1999 Millennium Collection. The exhibition is open seven days a week and runs until 18 January 2000.
