Nature booklet in Luxembourg
New stamp booklet of Luxembourg
The illustrations used for the new stamp booklet of Luxembourg feature close-ups of objects in nature that immediately give us an incentive to visit the nature museum in Luxembourg-Grund.National Museum of Natural History
Since 1996 the National Museum of Natural History has received visitors in three buildings along the rue Münster. Each building is dedicated to different types of activities. The St. John's hospice houses the nature museum with its permanent and temporary exhibitions. The educational building has three classrooms at its disposal for its activities designed to raise the awareness of young people to environmental sciences. The Scientific Research Centre includes six office-laboratories and two warehouses for the collections. Here, a team of scientists, but above all volunteer scientific collaborators of the museum, study the specimens of the collections and look after scientific aspects of the natural patrimony.Awareness of environmental issues
The mission of the National Museum of Natural History includes raising awareness of environmental issues and contributing to the conservation of natural patrimony. The exhibitions in the nature museum were thus conceived as an interface between the public and the scientific community, a meeting place, a starting point for common projects.Issue: Luxembourg, 14 September 2002
