Charity 2000
The third and final series of postage stamps depicting 16th century drawings by Abbot Jean Bertes of Echternach. The drawings can be found in the "Grand Bertels" kept in the National Archives in Luxembourg. The drawings of Jean Bertels cover a number of towns in the region, as seen by this Renaissance man who was interested in history, but who, as a service to future historians, also recorded the events of his own time. Even the most mundane scenes often sparked his interest.
Bertels himself formed this desire to provide material for future generations in a manuscript dated 1598 where he wrote: "There is nothing more dignified or more honorable than information that is passed along in writing to those who follow."

Musical instruments
The electric guitar was invented around 1930 in the United States. Unlike a classical guitar, it usually has a non-resonant body and six strings whose sound is captured by electromagnetic pickups attached to the body of the instrument, then amplified by means of electronic equipment connected to loudspeakers. The first prototypes of the electric guitars were developed by the American musician Les Paul. First popularised by rock & roll and beat bands, that created the pop music of the 50's and 60's, the electric guitar, in a variety of styles and colors, quickly became the preferred instrument of young people. The style of the famous Stratocaster model, sold from 1954 by Leo Fender, even became a universal symbol.
Accordion
The patent for the accordion was filed in Vienna in 1829 by Cyril Damian. His instrument was an improvement of the Handäoline invented in Germany several years earlier. The first accordions had often ten melody keys and two bass buttons. More recent instruments have additional buttons and keys that allow musicians to produce a greater variety of notes and chords. There is a great deal of popular and traditional music available for the accordion. It has also been used for classical music by Tchaikovsky and Alban Berg.
Size: 24 x 29.1 mm.
