Germany often issues beautiful stamps. This time Gustav Heinemann is nicely portrayed.
The politician Heinemann had a great influence in Germany after the war. He was born in 1899 in Schwelm, studied laws, economics and history and became lawyer in Marburg. Soon Heinemann became interested in politics.
After a long career in politics Heinemann became president of West-Germany (1969-1974).
