Finnish stamps of May 2006
Six new stamp releases

There were six new stamp releases in May in Finland. The stamps portray the historic Sveaborg Seas Fortress, and the 400-year-old town of Vaasa and more. In May 14 different stamps were released.
The denomination of all the new stamps corresponds with the 1st class letter postage up to 50 grams.
Cats
Cats are the motif of a new booklet with four self-adhesive stamps and two self-adhesive labels. Katriina Viljamaa-Rissanen has drawn a red striped domestic cat, an English blue short-haired, a ragdoll, and a chocolate Persian on the stamps of the booklet.
Summertime activities

The theme of another May booklet, designed by Virpi Pekkala, is summer and summertime activities. The activities include fishing, making a garland, making a sauna bath whisk and weeding the flowerbed. The booklet containing four stamps also includes two self-adhesive labels.
Vaasa and Europa
Other stamps released in May 2006 include are a stamp, designed by Pekka Piippo, commemorating the 400-year-old town of Vaasa and a stamp of the Europa stamp series, issued jointly by European postal services, with European integration as its theme this year. The Finnish stamp portrays tandem cyclists. Aino-Maija Metsola, a student at the University of Industrial Arts, has drawn the picture of the stamp.
