PostBus Switzerland

Special stamps Centenary PostBus Switzerland

PostBus Switzerland In 2006, Switzerland will be celebrating an unusual anniversary - the centenary of the PostBus service. Today's PostBus Switzerland carries more than 100 million passengers a year, operating a network covering 10,363 kilometers with a fleet of some 2000 vehicles, making it the leading provider of passenger services on Swiss roads. Three special Swiss postage stamps provide topical insight into the customers catered for, the services provided and the vehicles used by the PostBus service.

Tradition and innovation on four wheels

The first postbus route between Berne and Detligen was inaugurated in 1906, and 1919 saw the launch of the famous trips over Switzerland's alpine passes starting with the Simplon. This year's centenary functions as a bridge between a fascinating history and a dynamic future. Every day, PostBus Switzerland services countless commuters, day-trippers and tourists.
