World philatelic exhibition
The Belgica 2001 world philatelic exhibition in June attracted around 9,000 schoolchildren from every part of Belgium.
On the occasion of Belgica 2001 these pupils took part in the "My First Stamp" drawing competition. The jury members struggled to deal with the thousands of drawings submitted. After a tough selection process the jury choose the drawing of Piet Vanhuyse (aged 10) from Roeselare. The winning drawing can now be seen on the promotion of philately stamp.
