Batrachians and reptiles
New definitives of Aland

The new definitives of Aland saw the light of day immediately in January. The stamps depict two rare animals, which both are protected by law: Smooth snake and great crested newt.
Batrachians and reptiles
Batrachians and reptiles are among the most exposed animals in the Nordic wildlife. Both the smooth snake and the great crested newt have become very rare in all Nordic countries. The reasons for this are many, for instance, pollution, acidification, drainage and clearing of woods.

Today batrachians and reptiles depend on human help and understanding for their survival.
