The euro

Banque Centrale de Luxembourg

The euro P&T Luxembourg, an official partner of the euro-campaign directed by the "Banque Centrale de Luxembourg" and operator of a large network of sales-counters in the Grand Duchy, will assume, together with banks and businesses of Luxembourg, a large part of the responsibility of putting the euro in circulation and of retiring national coins and banknotes.

Goal: transition as smooth as possible

With the goal of also ensuring a transition as smooth as possible to the common European currency as far as postage stamps are concerned, P&Tluxembourg has decided to publish the prices of its services in euro starting on 1 October 2001.

Six new postage stamps

To be able to achieve all the possible franking resulting from this new price list, a series of six postage stamps showing the designs of the principal euro coins have been created. These stamps, which will have a franking value identical to the value of the coins that they show, will allow the public to become familiar with the new monetary units even before they are put in circulation by the end of December 2001.
