The Weather

Weather stamps

Royal Mail celebrated one of the nation's obsessions on 13 March 2001 when it issued Weather stamps, which includes the first ever heat-sensitive stamp.

Rich in colour and beautifully illustrated

The Weather Rich in colour and beautifully illustrated, the stamps perfectly encapsulate the rich diversity and changeability of the Great Britain's weather.

And as quick as the weather changes, do does the colour of the cloud on the 27p stamp. A small section of the stamp has been printed with thermochromic ink which sees the cloud change from dark and gloomy to a cheerful sky blue when it is touched. Rubbing with a finger heats the paper and activates the ink, changing the colour.
