Three new stamp series

On 15 September 2000 three new stamp series were issued in Norway: Millennium, The city of Skien and Laestadius.

Millennium

On 15 September 2000 Norway Post issued the two latest stamps in the Millennium series Norway 2000.
The two stamps are children drawings about the future. The themes are "Out in space" and "Holiday on the moon". The images were selected among more than 36,000 received drawings. The values of these stamps are 4.20 and 6.30 kr.

The city of Skien

To celebrate the city of Skien 1000 years, two stamps were issued. Monument to log drivers (4.20 kr) and the church of Skien (15 kr). Both stamps were issued on 15 September 2000.
The city of Skien may be known as the birthplace of Hendrik Ibsen, Norway's greatest writer of plays and of polar explorer Hjalmar Johansen.

Lars Levi Laestadius

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of Lars Levi Laestadius Norway issued a stamp of 5 kr.
Laestadius is best known as clergyman and revivalist preacher. He was also one of Scandinavia's most prominent botanists. He discovered two of Norway's most remarkable plants.
