Belgium September 2000

As usual the Belgian post issued some new interesting stamps in September: Youth Philately, Hainaut Flower Show, a flower booklet and two definitives.

Youth Philately

Already when he was a boy, Robert "Merho" Merhottein dreamed of becoming a comic artist. After some youthful lapses like Flup & Tist and Comi & Dacske, Merho started to experiment with the story "Kiekeboe at the circus".
A few years later, in 1977, the daily "Het Laatste Nieuws" started publishing the Kiekeboe comic strip series.

Hainaut Flower Show

The province of Hainaut has organised a flower show since 1930. The show, which is held every ten years, also highlights other aspects of the city in which it takes place.
Between 7 and 17 September 2000, thousands of visitors had the chance to admire the flowerbeds and floral decorations in the streets and in the seven best-known places of the city.

Flower Booklet

On 11 September 2000 a new booklet with ten flowers (17 fr) was issued. This time, designer André Buzin choose the violet as subject. The booklets contain ten self-adhesives (size: 30 x 25 mm).
