Zemstvos issues
The local stamps authorised by the Russian government are named zemstvos. Between 1870 and 1918 stamps were issued in 150 rural districts. The Imperial Postal Service did not cover all of Russia. In many towns and districts outside this area local posts were established with the sanction of the government.
Zeppelin
Stamps or covers bearing a design of a zeppelin, mail carried by a zeppelin and cachets referring to a zeppelin flight are very much in demand by collectors interested in ballooning or aviation.
From 1928 till 1940 big balloons with a framework inside were built in Germany and some other countries to carry people through the air. The most important inventor Ferdinand von Zeppelin made his first flight with his airship in 1900. Balloons similar to his cigar-shaped design are usually called "zeppelin".
The Hindenburg became the most famous Zeppelin after its crash in Lakehurst, New Jersey, whereby 35 people on board and one ground crew member were killed.

A zinco is a block or plate made by a photo-mechanical process of engraving by etching on sensitised zinc plates in line or half-tone.
